This might have been available for a while now but it's crazy. On Google maps, you can zoom in to the max and drag the little yellow guy to a spot on the road. You can then pan around and look at the surrounding environment for a human perspective. No more guessing if that blurb on the map is a 4 ft drop... (if this feature is available). Check it out:
